Tyler Sticka is an art student currently residing in western Oregon. He started drawing at the early age of 2, and his interest accelerated when he attended classes from cartoonist and children's book illustrator Ray Nelson, Jr. Realizing the impact Ray had on him at such a young age, Tyler has taken every opportunity he can to volunteer at local grade schools teaching art and cartooning.
While in high school, Tyler studied art with Judy Vogland and Gail Gerlach. He was chosen as one of 12 students to study for two weeks at Art Center in Pasadena, CA, under mentor Stan Kong and has won awards in the Publisher's Olympics for his political cartoons. His "Back Off" digital piece was selected as one of 25 winners from over 650 entries in the 2004 Imation Computer Arts competition. He also completed a year-and-a-half internship with the Intel Corporation doing primarily internal web and graphic design, even working briefly on an internal CD-ROM distribution for IBM.
Currently, Tyler is working as a freelance illustrator and web designer, and even a one-on-one art instructor as time allows. He is enrolled at the Art Institute of Portland, majoring in Interactive Media Design.
wow~ your works are amazing. I thought they were a cross between cartooning and graphic art when I saw them. So when I read your profile, I can see why. You've got really great stuff here. :) I'm definitely watching you.
